Obituary on Romeo and Juliet
Obituary on Romeo and Juliet19-10-2012, 15:09 |
Sometimes an idea exceeds intended for it boundaries, sometimes on the contrary – it can’t cope with the nearby space. The idea of the tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, staged in Vaso Abashidze Music and Drama Theatre, not only couldn’t reach the auditorium, but even didn’t cross the threshold of the mortuary, presented on the stage. Mainly and often an amplitude of the idea depends on the origin centre. That’s why my remarks concerning this performance mostly refer to the director (Davit Mghebrishvili), who couldn’t manage to promote actors, their characters, set design and their integrity out of the interesting idea. Most part of the mise-en scene serves as means of assimilating the morgue construction on the stage and underlining its importance. This construction, its “drawers” at one moment is a bed, at another – a window, sometimes is a corridor, but in order to demonstrate the conceived content these drawers are pulled in and out so loudly and so many times that this noise becomes annoying for the spectator. It can be said, that the director’s linier attitude towards his own idea has become an impeding factor for the interpretation of a free idea, both for the actors and for the director. He found himself in the frames of his plot and couldn’t develop meaning and, so, increase the amplitude of the idea. უკან დაბრუნება |
