On  11^th of November Gori George Eristavi Drama Theatre offered another premiere to the viewers. The author of the play was Leila Arabuli, it was her debut work, the director was Soso Nemsadze.

Sometimes an idea exceeds intended for it boundaries, sometimes on the contrary – it can’t cope with the nearby space. The idea of the tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, staged in  Vaso Abashidze Music and Drama Theatre, not only couldn’t reach the auditorium, but even didn’t cross the threshold of the mortuary, presented on the stage... 

The performance “We are acting Strindberg” has been the integral part of the Rustaveli theatre repertoire for years. The one-act drama, staged after the play by Friedrich Durenmat, has been raised by the famous Georgian directors – Robert Sturua and Andro Enuqidze. The performance tells us about the cohabitation of the married couple, full of hatred and contempt. Suddenly the third person appears in their life, who brings in stir, fear and panic. In  my review I talk about the specifics of the performance, idea of the directors and acting of the actors and, at the same time, I emphasize their positive and negative sides. 

Temur Chkheidze’s plays routinely receive standing ovations at the St. Petersburg Big Drama Theatre in Russia. Likewise, the respect and admiration he receives is never lacking when he stages plays at Georgia’s Rustaveli and Marjanishvili Theatres– not even today, despite the fact that he comes to Tbilisi only once or twice per year.

The most precise criterion for the assessment of D. Andghuladze’s performance “Totally other opera” proceeds from  the “Radical” theatre precedent, different from the usual means of expressiveness.
